The workshop is aimed at people who have a project underway or completed and want to know the editing process of a photobook. The workshop will be divided into two sessions:
1. Theoretical session with practical examples of everything. Topics: Editorial vs. Desktop Publishing. Financing and production costs. Editing contract for photographers. Editing, design, prepress and printing process: keys to keep in mind. Distribution and bookstores. Promotion and press.
2. Practical sessions: the idea is to talk about the entire process through some practical examples of books that we have published, from the first contact to the different sales and promotion channels. Also comment on interesting cases from other books, always with practical examples. I would structure it in two sessions, one in which we will see part of my library and we will be able to comment on books that I consider interesting for different reasons, and in the second session we will see examples of the edition of some of our books, of which I will bring previous models and material of the entire editing and design process.
Montse Puig has a degree in History and has studied photography at the Institut D’Estudis Fotográfics de Catalunya. His professional experience has always been linked, directly or indirectly, to photography. Always fascinated by books, and after working for thirteen years at the RBA publishing house, in 2012 she founded Ediciones Anómalas, an independent publishing house dedicated to photography that arises from the conviction that good books are not only for minorities, and that good editorial work consists of accompanying and disseminating the work of authors who consider necessary. www.edicionesanomalas.com
