ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
How to choose your photographs? How to select them and present them in a coherent way for the realization of an editorial project, an exhibition or publication on a website? What are the means to achieve an original photographic style?
The objective of this workshop, open to a limited number of 8 participants, is to give you the keys to answer these questions. The aim will be to develop in the photographer, amateur or professional, the ability to judge the coherence and meaning of their work and to help them achieve a personal work.
Each participant must bring a series of photographs of their choice.
Marco Barbon (Rome, 1972). After a doctorate in Aesthetics of Photography at the EHESS in Paris, he took his first steps in the world of photography working for five years on the staff of Magnum Photos, where he had the opportunity to collaborate, among others, with Harry Gruyaert, Bruce Davidson and Josef Koudelka. Since 2005 he has been dedicated to personal photographic research on the photographic image as a border zone between reality and the imaginary, the document and fiction. The nature of photography as a trace, as well as its ability to evoke the hors-champ and represent absence, constitute the framework of his latest works in particular. Marco Barbon has lived in France since 2001.
Author of the books Asmara Dream (Postcart, 2009; republished in 2016), Cronotopie (Postcart, 2010), Casablanca (Postcart, 2011), Les pas perdus (Poursuite, 2014), Asmara (Be-Pôles, 2014), El Bahr (Filigranes, 2016) and The Interzone (Postcart, 2017), his photographs have been published in the French and international press. His works, regularly exhibited in France and abroad, are part of several public and private collections.
Between 2015 and 2018 Marco Barbon was artistic director of DES RIVES - Conversations autour de la photographie contemporaine (www.desrives.net).
Marco Barbon's work is represented by the Clémentine de la Feronnière gallery (Paris) and by Galerie 127 (Marrakech).
